Pandemic Pivot with Allstate

Never waste a good pandemic!  Over the last year, the world has been battling an epidemic while the employees of Allstate Solutions Private Limited (ASPL) had achieved some great work over long hours,

lived by a mantra of ‘Never waste a good pandemic’!  Here’s a sum up our last year’s journey and mood, a brief of our A.S.P.L. (Allstate Solutions Pvt. Limited)

The last quarter results had been strong, we reported a 26.7% Increase in Q3 Net Income to $1.13 Billion

This year was particularly crucial since we put together a transformative growth plan, which was put in motion by the mid of 2020, which have acutely targeted an increase in the property-liability market share by expanding customer access, improving customer value, and investing in marketing and technology. Our recent actions include combining the Esurance and Allstate direct businesses, launching new Allstate brand advertising, a cost reduction plan to provide lower-cost auto insurance and consolidation of property-liability regions.

The pandemic induced distance made us more appreciative of teamwork to help us get through the day no matter what comes our way, appreciate and recognize our team members for their constant support through a ‘Whale Done Culture’, while we also launched virtual platforms like RNR 2.0 and i-Connect, a consolidated platform for all employee connects – with leaders, managers, and their HRBPs.

P-assion for a better tomorrow

Working from home has given all of us an opportunity to pursue some personal interests – Plants? Pets? Pastas? Or Movies? Music? Magazines? (and how about home cleaning – anyone?). While we continue to work across multiple locations in India and US, we encouraged our employees to settle down into the WFH regime by balancing time between work and their loved ones. This has empowered them to put their best foot forward while we continue to work remotely.  For all the master chefs stuck at home creating new memories with family while making the pink-sauce pasta or baking your signature cookies, we introduced their unique recipes via the Allstate Foodie Junction – an interactive cookbook. This was one initiative I had been keenly looking forward to!

L-ead and learn

Would like to advocate this in two parts –

  1. By process: We constantly sought feedback to improve and become a great place to work through our internal surveys. There was a significant effort dedicated towards actioning that feedback, from building a culture of appreciation to helping our employees add more meaning to their work. We also invested in building our managerial effectiveness through various interventions like the First-Time manager(FTM) and Lead from Front (LFF).
  2. By choice: Through these difficult times, it was essential that we create our expert speak wellness sessions on a regular basis to cater to the emotional and physical wellness of our employees. We have conducted multiple ‘What Would You Do Sessions (WWYD)’ and POSH awareness sessions, which referenced recent disciplinary incidents with the aim to encourage the right behavior and promote a culture based on the ASPL Global Code of Business Conduct.

To sum it up for the readers is a dialogue from one of my favorite Bollywood movies (roughly translated) –

“If you run after success you can never reach your fullest capability, but you focus to build your own capability, then success will definitely follow” – 3 Idiots (a Bollywood movie)
